چکیده
Abstract Background Patients with advanced esophageal cancer may have dysphagia and weight loss from the first visit, it is necessary to evaluate their nutritional status before starting treatment, especially for preoperative patients. On other hand, since 2018, global diagnostic criteria malnutrition, GLIM criteria, been proposed define malnutrition its severity. Purpose The aim of study examine impact severity assessment using at time visit in patients on short-term prognosis (length hospital stay after surgery) long-term (presence or absence recurrence, OS) undergoing surgery cancer. Method From 2011 197 undergone esophagectomy, we examined distribution these Based low BMI Asians (<18.5: less than 70 years old, <20: over old) defined as moderate severe are according rate. Result 42 (21.3%) were judged be malnourished visit. 23 moderately malnourished, 19 severely malnourished. There was no significant difference postoperative length between normal nutrition group group, regardless disease. but undernourished had a significantly high rate recurrences (p < 0.01). Regarding prognosis, 3-year survival tended slightly lower = 0.081), 0.001). Conclusion In cancer, considered poor although similar that eutrophic group. Currently, Japan, NAC usually performed operable so future, plan focus improving beginning surgery.

BACKGROUND The prognostic nutritional index (PNI) is related to the prognosis in many cancers; however, its role in esophageal cancer is still controversial. Further, controversy exists concerning the optimal cut-off points for PNI to predict survival. The aim of this study was to determine the prognostic value of PNI and propose the optimal cut-off points for PNI in predicting cancer-specific ...
